This year marks the fifth anniversary of Giving Tuesday – the Tuesday following Thanksgiving on which people around the nation are encouraged to donate to a charity or nonprofit of their choice. It is a day that essentially kicks off the “Donating” season, where the whole nation is urged to make a contribution to their preferred organization. It has grown to become a movement via social media – making it easier for organizations to urge donors to make contributions and use it as a platform to further their cause.
